The Absolute Best "Man" Snack!

say "man" because this family recipe uses hotdogs, which most women stay away from. This is a Canning recipe that you can make to store ...can keep for snacks, meals, take hunting, etc. It normally is canned in quarts but I like using pint jars due to the snack size of a pint. 8 fully harvesting plants will yield about 30 pints at a time (rough estimate).
Sauce ingredients (below yields around 12-13 pints sauce)
-46 oz tomato juice
-2 cups sugar
-2 cups white vinegar
-1 cup vegetable type oil
-2 teaspoons salt
-1 tablespoon minced garlic
---------------------------------------
mix above ingredients and simmer just under boil. Prepare hot or sweet banana peppers by cleaning out seeds and slicing them up. also slice hotdogs up into 1/2 " slices. Layer the dogs and peppers slices into the pint jars, 2 layers each (pint jar ends up with about 2 to 2 1/2 hotdogs). once all packed in each pint, pour in your sauce up to neck then seal jars up and boil in pot of water for 20 min (for lid seal). 1 pint jar ends up being around 800 calories. For more healthy minded people, change the following:
--Substitute Turkey dogs instead of beef hot dogs (fat free beef dogs I don't recommend as texture of the dog just isn't right)
--in Place of sugar use cup per cup Stevia extract(has no aftertaste), cut vegetable oil to 1/2 cup (doesn't hurt overall taste), and add 1/4 cup more tomato juice to make up for lost fluid content in oil.
-------This will take the pre-mentioned 800 calorie pint down to 350 calories.

I promise that you, your kids, or your husband will love this stuff! I've got 13 plants dedicated to just this recipe this year :P
