THIS HARDINESS ZONE MAP WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH SAFE PLANTING

usa hardiness zone map

Plant hardiness is extremely important to the proper growth of a plant. Review the hardiness zone map where you live and use the number in choosing your plants. It is imperative that you use this zone when reviewing a catalog or traveling to a nursery.

Plants that indicate they are marked for zones 3-8 will certainly grow in Zones 3,4,5,6,7 and 8.It is always best to test a new variety of plant with maybe one or two before you invest a lot of money just to be sure the zoning is correct. It sometimes occurs in colder back yards that a plant which has been designated for your Zone does not survive the winter.

Fountain Grass

This type of plant known as a Pennisetum or Fountain Grass is a lovely plant from Spring to Fall but you will not find it in the hardiness zone map simply because it is annual plant.I have moved this plant in doors successfully over the winter with good lightning and plenty of water and temperature no lower then 65 degrees. Just be careful when digging it out of the ground as the plants do grow with great vigor during the season. It looks magnficient in front of red canna.
